I'm glad that you liked it! The pacing early on is kind of incongruous with the rest of it; I really wanted to set up why all of this mattered and show that the loss was real and I wasn't sure how to do that except to have this big shear. I'm glad that you appreciate it; I'm curious if you think there might have been a better way to do it? Just because I didn't see one doesn't mean there wasn't one there.
I do think a strong plot helps carry along some of the ridiculous social politics stuff I wanted to do --- on its own or in a character study I think it would really bog down. I'm glad it was interesting in its own right, too, though. :) Thanks so much for reading and commenting!
